Icarus's Mother

Icarus's Mother is a one-act play written by Sam Shepard. New Canaan High School performed this play during the COVID-19 Pandemic in a socially distanced online performance, rather than a live performance. It was directed by Matthew Saldivar and involved a film crew as well as two different cohorts of casts. This show was a difficult piece to dissect and attempt to interpret. Saldivar used the aspects of COVID-19, such as social distancing and special heavy-duty masks to create an almost post-apocalyptic world. The show won "Best Play" in the 2021 Connecticut Halo Awards.
